Channel Register: HP grey case goes to court: “Both parties had worked on an out-of-court settlement, but last week, the judge presiding over the case at the Chancery Division, Mr Justice Laddie, heard the arguments and retired to his chambers to consider the outcome. The judge, who announced his retirement recently, is not expected to drag on his decision.”:  Posted 6 July 2005

Having failed to reach an out-of-court settlement, Expansys has faced Hewlett-Packard in court to contest the allegation that it had been importing the vendor’s handheld devices into the UK from the Far East, infringing trademark agreements by doing so.

As exclusively revealed by this magazine earlier in the year, HP issued a High Court writ against the Manchester-based etailer for selling iPaqs that were bought outside the European Economic Area.

Both parties had worked on an out-of-court settlement, but last week, the judge presiding over the case at the Chancery Division, Mr Justice Laddie, heard the arguments and retired to his chambers to consider the outcome.

The judge, who announced his retirement recently, is not expected to drag on his decision.

HP refused to comment while proceedings continued and Expansys was not available for comment.
