MANILA, Sept 26 Asia Pulse - Nordic countries Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark, along with the the Netherlands, are considering investing in the area of new and renewable energy in the Philippines.

 

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's emphasis on the development of renewable energy resources attracted interest among Nordic companies to look for business opportunities here.

 

Norway's SN Power is looking at the Philippines as one of the emerging markets on hydroelectric power development.

 

Dutch firms Solland Energy BV and TSS4U (The Solar Solutions for You) are working with local companies Aboitiz Power Solutions Inc., Deinet International and Resourcement Inc., for the development of solar energy suited to the Philippine market.

 

A Dutch company, Emergya wind Technologies BV, is currently finding business partners in the country to market wind energy solutions.

 

Shell Solar Philippines, Inc., one of the companies under the Royal Dutch Shell Group, is now implementing a solar home system project with the PNOC. It entails the installation of 15,000 solar home systems in off-grid locations.

 

Finnish business is also willing to come to the Philippines and look at opportunities in the energy market.
