A company that bid unsuccessfully for Shell's retail and commercial business in Ireland has written to Shell demanding multi-million-euro compensation and that the bid process be re-run.

Dublin company Mandraki Associates wrote to Shell two weeks ago, claiming it was unfairly disadvantaged in the process, which was won by a consortium led by Ion Equity in Dublin. The takeover by the Ion-led consortium was completed last Wednesday.

Mandraki wants Shell to either re-run the bid process, or to pay it €1.5 million for wasted bid costs, as well as a “further significant sum'‘ in compensation. It said it would take legal action if Shell did not agree to re-run the process or pay the compensation.
