Dear Sir
SHELL TRANSPORT - AN ILL-FATED PREDICTION
It is interesting as we approach the end of 2004 to review predictions made at the beginning of the year.
In this connection I was amused to reread an article published in the Daily Telegraph “Money” column on 3rd January under the headline: “Place your bets as our experts pick their rising stars for the new year.” The subtitle stated: “Faith Dewey challenged our panel of experts to scrutinise their crystal balls and answer the key questions for 2004”.
One of your experts, Andrew Jones, investment director of The David Aaron Partnership chose Shell Transport as his “Top Share”. Of course he did not know that just a few days later news would erupt about a corporate scandal of such magnitude that Shell Transport is now in its death throes and likely to be put out of its misery at its next (and almost certainly final) AGM.
Which unfortunate “rising star” is Andrew tipping for 2005?
Yours faithfully
Alfred Donovan (Address and phone number supplied)
