Royal Dutch/Shell, the Anglo-Dutch oil giant, has restored 22,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil production in Nigeria from the 144,000 bpd that has been lost since last month because of a community dispute and vandalism.
Jubilee Platinum, the AIM-listed mining company, said that its Vlaklaagte and Zwartdoorns properties in South Africa would be “subordinated” to more encouraging properties.
Rio Tinto, the diversified mining giant, said that it had sold its 57.5 per cent stake in the Marcona copper mine in Peru to Marcobre, the mining group, for a minimum of $13 million (£7 million).
