[India News]: New Delhi, Jan 4: Shell India has donated Rs two crore to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for relief of Tsunami-affected people in India.
"Shell is donating three million dollar (Rs 13.5 crore) to support the relief and rehabilitation efforts in the Tsuanami-affected region, including Rs two crore to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund in India," a company press release said here.
Two million dollars will be donated locally and distributed through the local companies in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and Malaysia to Tsunami relief funds.
Towards that end, Vikram Singh Mehta, chairman of Shell Group of Companies in India, today presented cheques totalling Rs two crore to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund, the release said.
An additional one million dollar is being raised through local Shell schemes.
"In India all employees of the 11 Shell companies in the country have contributed one day's salary towards Tsunami relief. These companies have matched this amount," it added. PTI
