New Delhi: Royal Dutch/Shell has opened its first petrol station in India, a senior company official said on Friday.
"We have commissioned our first retail outlet in Bangalore. We have a licence to set up 2,000 outlets," Vikram Mehta, Shell India's Chairman, told reporters on the sidelines of a business conference.
He said Shell's retail network would be set up in phases and the first stage would involve an expenditure of Rs 250 crore. He did not give more details. ($1 = 44.2 rupees)
