AFX Europe (Focus): Shell wins more exploration acreage in Australia: Posted Tuesday January 17, 2006
LONDON (AFX) - Royal Dutch Shell PLC said it has secured the rights to explore additional areas in the Browse Basin, offshore western Australia.
The permit area, WA-371-P, is located in the Caswell Sub-basin and is adjacent to the giant Ichthys/Brewster gas field.
"We believe that permit area WA-371-P could be a significant contributor to the supply of LNG to the Asia-Pacific market," said Tim Warren, chairman of Shell Companies in Australia.
For the first three years, Shell is planning to drill up to 12 wells on the site. monicca.egoy@afxnews.com
