News: Meet Alaska conference set Jan. 20: "This
year’s conference is titled: “The end of the
rainbow: Reaching Alaska’s elusive oil and gas
pot of gold.”: Week of January 01, 2006
The Alaska Support Industry Alliance’s annual
conference, Meet Alaska, is scheduled for Jan.
20 at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel. This year’s
conference is titled: “The end of the rainbow:
Reaching Alaska’s elusive oil and gas pot of
gold.”
Confirmed speakers include: William Berry,
executive vice president production and
exploration for ConocoPhillips; Cheryl Knight,
executive director and CEO, Petroleum Human
Resources Council of Canada; David MacInnis,
Canadian Energy Pipeline Association; Kirk
Pickerel, national president, Associated
Builders and Contractors; Rob Ryan, vice
president corporate affairs, the Americas, Shell
Exploration and Production; Scott Sheffield,
chief executive officer, Pioneer Natural
Resources; and Dr. Pedro van Meurs,
international oil and gas consultant.
James Bowles, president of ConocoPhillips
Alaska Inc. and Steve Marshall, president of BP
Exploration Alaska Inc., will present local
industry updates.
Alaska Gov. Frank Murkowski has been
invited to speak.
The last event of the day is called
“Turning the tables on Meet the Press.” Alliance
board members will address questions to John
Tracy, KTUU-TV news director; Patrick Dougherty,
Anchorage Daily News editor; Steve Heimel,
Alaska Public Radio senior reporter and
producer; and Kay Cashman, Petroleum News
executive editor.
