The Shell oil company has taken a number of north Mayo landowners to court in the row over a pipeline for Corrib gas.
Shell has sought orders from the High Court against six people to restrain them from interfering with the proposed pipeline.
It is the latest round in a long running row over the pipeline, which is intended to bring gas ashore from the offshore Corrib field.
The case began on Friday and will resume on Wednesday of this week.
Patrick Hanratty, counsel for the company, said the pipeline would take the gas to land and then nine kilometres underground to a gas reception station, where it would be processed and fed into the national grid.
