LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Merrill Lynch upgraded Royal Dutch Shell Group to buy from neutral, citing the strong technical support it expects ahead of the July merger of the two holding companies into a single entity.

The broker also told clients that it sees potential for some positive news on asset disposal execution and noted the group's leverage to refining, which it continues to view as a source of potential upside earnings surprise over the next six months.
