JJ Traynor, one of the UK's better known oil analysts, will be looking at Royal Dutch/Shell's reserves from the inside from now on.
Shell yesterday told staff it had named Traynor vice-president for exploration and production business development support - responsible for oversight, ranking and management of its portfolio of prospects. Traynor was dismissed by Deutsche Bank in January as part of the closure of its Edinburgh office. Shell will not be his first stint in industry; he formerly worked at BP.
A consistently highly ranked analyst, he is recalled as having given Shell the benefit of the doubt until the reserves debacle was revealed.
