Shell UK has promoted regulatory relations manager Tanya Morrison to one of its top public affairs roles, having beaten external candidates to secure the post.
The hire comes at a tumultuous time for the oil industry. Rising fuel prices, oil shortages and pressure to produce cleaner fuels are the main issues facing Shell.
Morrison becomes external affairs manager next month and replaces Stephen Rae, who quit for a GlaxoSmithKline PA role (PRWeek, 30 September).
She has worked for Shell for almost four years. A replacement is to be sought, at first internally, for her current position.
Reporting to head of UK external affairs Dermot Grimson, Morrison will support Shell's UK-based petrol stations and its oil refinery in Cheshire.
Targets will be the Government – particularly the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Environment Agency. She will also liaise with NGOs and the Petrol Retailers' Association.
