Forbes/AFX News Limited: Striking workers at Royal Dutch Shell look to extend action to two more sites: Tuesday 1 November 2005
LE HAGUE (AFX) - Striking workers at Royal Dutch Shell in the Netherlands are seeking to extend their action against the company to two further sites operated by NAM, a 50-50 joint venture of Shell and the US' ExxonMobil, unions said today.
'(The union) CNV Chimie will try and keep these sites partly operational and not block access, so that customers will not find themselves without gas,' said a spokesman for the union.
She added that the union would not block the two sites at Den Helder, in the south west, and Emmen, in the north east, totally but were looking to reduce production by 50 pct.
The Den Helder site produces around 2.5 mln cubic metres of gas per day, while Emmen produces some 58 mln cubic metres, a spokesman for NAM said.
