(Asia-Pacific) - Shell Malaysia's Chairman, Datuk Jon Chadwick, says the company is looking for more upstream E&P, reported the Malaysia Star.

"That is what will be driving us in the years to come."

"The E&P business is growing and investment levels remain very robust. We are not sitting on our laurels; we have been here for 114 years and we are investing at record levels," the Star quotes Chadwick.

According to Chadwick, Shell has been investing about $2,110,400 in capital every day in Malaysia this year, most of which has gone into E&P activities.

He said the group planned to grow the E&P business by continuing an aggressive exploration campaign, developing discoveries in a timely and efficient manner.

"Our recent exploration record in Malaysia is world class. We would like to continue the successes of the past few years in deepwater offshore Borneo."

"We have leased new acreage from Petronas in the last year to explore in."

"Together with partner, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, we signed two blocks in February this year -- ND6 and ND7 (ultra deepwater blocks off the east coast of Sabah) -- and we are on the lookout for more exploration acreage," he adds.

Blocks ND6 and ND7 are located in waters of up to 4,000 m depth in the South China Sea.
