The Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies today announced the appointment of Michiel Brandjes as Company Secretary of Royal Dutch Shell plc.

The appointment is with immediate effect but Mr Brandjes will continue to act in his current role as Company Secretary of Royal Dutch until the proposed Group structure changes are fully implemented.  

In his new role, Mr Brandjes will remain based in The Hague and lead Royal Dutch Shell plc company secretariat and corporate syndicate. This will include all corporate law matters and secretarial services currently based in London and The Hague, as well as reporting work, disclosure expertise and legal advise to the Group Finance and Treasury function.

Mr Brandjes was formerly Lead Counsel Shell North East Asia, Beijing and Hong Kong and Senior Legal Counsel, Shell International Limited in London and head of the legal department of the Shell Companies in Singapore. He was senior legal adviser to Shell's Oil Products Business responsible for various investment, divestment and joint venture projects in the Russian Federation, PR China, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. He studied law at the University of California at Berkeley, and Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam.
